Since 1973, Barclays has evolved from a small clearing bank branch to a fully-fledged Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB), with an expanding presence in Private Banking.
Today, Barclays in Singapore delivers a comprehensive suite of products and services to an expanding and diversified CIB client base. And the fast-growing Private Bank offers tailored investment propositions to ultra high net worth and family office clients in Asia.

1973
Barclays’ humble beginnings in Singapore began on 1 September 1973 as the first branch of a British clearing bank.
1980s
BZW (Barclays Capital) opened a representative office and became a member of the Singapore Stock Exchange.
2000s
Sponsored the Singapore Open golf tournament, making it the biggest sponsorship in the city state.
2020s
Launched BARX foreign exchange trading pricing engine, making Singapore the bank’s fourth electronic foreign exchange trading hub globally, after New York, London and Tokyo. Established Barclays Private Bank in Singapore.
2023
Celebrates 50th anniversary in Singapore. Named by The Straits Times as one of the best employers for the third year running.
